    • We provide two core API connections: our Clinical API and our Wearables API

      • The Clinical API includes EHR/EMRs, pharmacy records, and lab data connections

      • The Wearables API includes fitness wearable devices and app connections

  • What types of data can Human API retrieve?

Our data network spans EHRs, patient portals, pharmacy, labs and wellness devices, so we can pull diverse data sets to serve many different clinical and wellness use cases.  

    • Our Clinical API data includes: 

      • Conditions, Medications, Procedures, Encounters, Test results, Demographics, Social History, Vitals/Observations, Organizations, Immunizations, Plans of Care, Narratives, etc

    • Our Wearables API data includes:

      • Activities, Activity Summary, Blood Glucose, Blood Oxygen, Blood Pressure, BMI, Body Fat, Heart Rate, Height, Weight, Sleep, Diet, etc.

  • How does Human API retrieve health data from different systems and sources?

    • We’ve built over 20,000 unique integrations which we manage, maintain, and evolve over time so that you don’t have to worry about it. Given the diversity of health data sources, we take a hybrid approach to retrieving data from across the ecosystem. We use existing digital interfaces (patient portals, apps, APIs) and the user's already existing credentials to access and connect to their data.

    • Examples of methods we employ may include some or all of the following:

      • APIs (including open standards like FHIR)

      • Patient portals 

      • Data Partnerships

      • Health Information Exchanges (HIEs)

  • Does Human API offer access to de-identified or anonymized health data for commercial use or research purposes?

    • Human API never sells or licenses de-identified or anonymized health data for any use.

  • Does Human API maintain a read-only integration with data sources, or can my business or consumers write or add data to the data sources in Human API’s network?

    • At the moment, we can only read and report data from data sources.

  • How is the data delivered from Human API to my business or platform?

    • We normalize and deliver the data over a secure, HIPAA compliant, RESTful API. We can also deliver the data in CSV and PDF formats when necessary.

  • How long does it take my end-users to share their health data through Human API?

    • 95% of health consumers will be able to authorize access to a data source in less than 5 minutes.

  • Can I choose/limit what data sources my consumers can connect to? 

    • Yes, the consumer Connect experience can be configured to expose just the categories (Providers, Labs, Pharmacies, Wellness) or individual data sources you want to offer to your users.

  • What if my end-users don’t know their patient portal credentials? 

    • Within our platform, they will be guided to the data source’s website to set up their patient portal credentials and recover their username and/or password if they don’t remember them. Our support team is also available to help guide them throughout the entire process.

  • How do I know when there is new data available on my active users/consumers?

    • Our customers can subscribe to web hook notifications and we will alert your system when there is new data available on a given user. Read more about integration here: https://reference.humanapi.co/docs

  • How does Human API standardize & normalize data? What standard medical code systems are available in your data?

    • We ingest all types of data types and formats, and have a proprietary data pipeline using machine learning that structures, normalizes, and standardizes the data & measurement units to our FHIR-inspired ontology.

      • ICD-10-CM

  • Where can I find technical API information or integration documentation?

  • What does Human API’s average transaction volume and infrastructure scalability look like?

    • We currently average about 2.5M API transactions per day across our platform

    • Server instances for data collection, parsing, and customer data are hosted on AWS and built to automatically scale to accommodate larger workloads.

  • Does Human API provide data visualization?/How does Human API visualize the data?

    • We can provide data in CCD-type timeline view, but otherwise it’s up to our health business customers to build great consumer-centric solutions on top of our data. We are the data connection platform fueling your consumer-facing health offering.

  • What is Human API’s business model?

    • Our customers are companies that want to leverage their users' health data to provide additional consumer value within the products & services they provide to their users. Including but not limited to:

      • Driving personalization of care & wellbeing through insights and recommendations

      • Matching users to relevant communities or opportunities

      • Enabling the viewing and sharing of health data

    • Our apps and services are always free for health consumers.

  • What geographic markets does Human API serve?

    • Our Wearbles API (fitness wearable & app connections) solution is available internationally while our Clinical API (EHR/EMR, pharmacy, & lab connections) solution is currently only available to US-based consumers and companies at the moment.

  • How is Human API different from its competitors?

    • While many of our competitors focus on one single type of data and operate behind-the-scenes, Human API  is a holistic, consumer-centric platform offering a comprehensive range of data connections including medical records, pharmacies, labs, fitness wearables & apps. Additionally, we take a consumer-centric approach, giving the consumer full control and visibility into their data and who has access to that data.

  • Can my business white label Human API’s platform?

    • Not exactly. Our consumer Connect platform can be seamlessly integrated into your application, but still bears the "powered by Human API" branding and provides avenues to allow users to optionally register with the Human API consumer service (note: creating a Human API account is not required in order for your consumers to share data with you). We take our consumer-centric approach very seriously and believe each consumer should be in full control of who has access to their health data. We’ve built our entire business model around consumer empowerment, trust, and transparency. 

  • How does Human API protect consumer data? Is Human API HIPAA-compliant?

    • Our secure cloud is HIPAA-compliant, and consumer data is encrypted both in transit and at rest. All our employees go through comprehensive background checks, and our internal processes are regularly monitored and audited.   •  Is consumer data secure with Human API?

    • HumanAPI is a HIPAA-compliant service, meaning it meets or exceeds U.S. government standards for medical data security, akin to the standards employed by national banks.

  • Does Human API own consumers’ data that they access & connect through the platform?

    • The consumer ALWAYS owns all their health data - they can connect and disconnect any data sources, authorize or revoke access to any company, and save or delete all of their health data. Human API will NEVER share a consumer’s PII health data to any other party without the consumer’s explicit consent.   • Who has access to consumer’s health data and for how long?

    • The philosophy here at Human API is that the consumer is always in control of their data. Human API continues to share their data with the respective business(s) that the consumer has requested as long as the consumer consents - the moment they want to turn it off, they can do so. Human API will NEVER share a consumer’s PII health data to any other party without the consumer’s explicit consent.  

  • Does Human API offer access to Dentist, Chiropractor, Psychologist, or Physiotherapist records?

    • No, Human API does not currently have Dentists, Chiropractors, Psychologists, or Physiotherapists in our data network.

  • Does Human API offer a sandbox environment or trial period to test?

    • Yes, we can provide a limited-time sandbox environment and/or trial period to evaluate our solution within your own organization’s employees, friends & family, etc. We cannot run your consumers’ secure health data through our servers and platform without a formal agreement in place.
