Our data network spans EHRs, patient portals, pharmacy, labs and wellness devices, so we can pull diverse data sets to serve many different clinical and wellness use cases. There can some variance between the data elements available in EHRs, patient portals, and wellness data sources, but typically this data is available:

  • Clinical API data:
    • Conditions, Medications, Procedures, Encounters, Test results, Demographics, Social History, Vitals/Observations, Organizations, Immunizations, Plans of Care, Narratives, etc
  • Wearable API data:
    • Activities, Activity Summary, Blood Glucose, Blood Oxygen, Blood Pressure, BMI, Body Fat, Heart Rate, Height, Weight, Sleep, Diet, etc.

We’ve built over 30,000+ unique system integrations which we manage, maintain, and evolve over time. Given the diversity of health data sources, we take a hybrid approach to retrieving data from across the ecosystem. We use existing digital interfaces (patient portals, apps, APIs) and the consumer’s login credentials to access and connect to their data.

No, Human API will never sell or share a consumer’s identifiable health data without their consent.

At the moment, we can only read and report data from data sources.

We normalize and deliver the data over a secure, HIPAA compliant, RESTful API. We can also deliver the data in CSV and PDF formats when necessary.

95% of health consumers will be able to authorize access to a data source in less than 5 minutes.

Yes, the consumer Connect experience can be configured to expose just the categories (Providers, Labs, Pharmacies, Wellness) or individual data sources you want to offer to your users.

Within our platform, they will be guided to the data source’s website to set up their patient portal credentials and recover their username and/or password if they don’t remember them. Our support team is also available to help guide them throughout the entire process.

Our customers can subscribe to web hook notifications and we will alert your system when there is new data available on a given user. Read more about integration here.

We ingest all types of data types and formats, and have a proprietary data pipeline using machine learning that structures, normalizes, and standardizes the data & measurement units to our FHIR-inspired ontology.

We currently average about 2.5M API transactions per day across our platform. Server instances for data collection, parsing, and customer data are hosted on AWS and built to automatically scale to accommodate larger workloads.

We can provide data in CCD-type timeline view, but otherwise it’s up to our health business customers to build great consumer-centric solutions on top of our data. We are the data connection platform fueling your consumer-facing health offering.

Our paying customers are companies/start-ups that want to leverage their users' health data to provide additional consumer value within the products & services they provide to their users. Including but not limited to:

Our Wearable API (fitness wearable & app connections) solution is available internationally while our Clinical API (EHR/EMR, pharmacy, & lab connections) solution is currently only available to US-based consumers and companies at the moment.

Additionally, we take a consumer-centric approach, giving the consumer full control and visibility into their data and who has access to that data.

Not exactly. Our consumer Connect platform can be seamlessly integrated into your application, but still bears the "powered by Human API" branding and provides avenues to allow users to optionally register with the Human API consumer service (note: creating a Human API account is not required in order for your consumers to share data with you). We take our consumer-centric approach very seriously and believe each consumer should be in full control of who has access to their health data. We’ve built our entire business model around consumer empowerment, trust, and transparency.

Our secure cloud is HIPAA-compliant, and consumer data is encrypted both in transit and at rest. All our employees go through comprehensive background checks, and our internal processes are regularly monitored and audited. More information on our security & privacy policy is available here.

Human API maintains HIPAA compliance to keep consumer data safe and protect it from falling in the wrong hands. We use industry-standard security protocols with bank-grade encryption for securely storing and transferring data.

The consumer ALWAYS owns all their health data - they can connect and disconnect any data sources, authorize or revoke access to any company, and save or delete all of their health data. Human API will NEVER share a consumer’s PII health data to any other party without the consumer’s explicit consent. The philosophy here at Human API is that the consumer is always in control of their data. Human API continues to share their data with the respective business(s) that the consumer has requested as long as the consumer consents - the moment they want to turn it off, they can do so. Human API will NEVER share a consumer’s PII health data to any other party without the consumer’s explicit consent.

No, Human API does not currently have Dentists, Chiropractors, Psychologists, or Physiotherapists in our data network.
